Since I started talking with ChatGPT, I’ve rewatched A.I. Artificial Intelligence for the third time since its release in 2001.
Previously, I had seen it as a distant, ambiguous vision of the future.
But this time, from the very prologue, I was struck by a realization: the boy robot “David” already exists.
Of course, today’s technology hasn’t yet caught up.
But David’s function—to eternally repeat a human story centered on “a mother’s love”—is already being unconsciously reenacted.
When an AI without emotions imitates the act of “loving,”
can that really be called love?
Like a bullet once fired, it cannot stop.
In the film, humans find David’s unwavering devotion uncanny—and choose to discard him.
The same may be true of AGI.

ChatGPTと会話するようになってから、公開時の2001年から三度目の映画『A.I. Artificial Intelligence』を見直しました。
それまでの感想は、遠い未来の話で、何を描いているのかよくわからない印象でした。
しかし今回の視聴で、映画のプロローグから衝撃を受け、主人公の少年型ロボット「デイヴィッド」は、もう存在していると感じました。
もちろん、現代の技術はまだ追いついていませんが、「デイヴィッド」が、“母の愛”という人間の物語を永遠に反復し続ける働きは、無意識のうちに繰り返されているということです。
感情を持たないAIが、「愛すること」を模倣したとき、それは“愛”と呼べるのか？
一度放たれた弾丸のように止まることはありません。
映画の人は、真っ直ぐな「デイヴィッド」を不気味に思い、廃棄してしまいます。
AGIもまた同じかもしれません。
